The Realities of Social Media for Small Catering Businesses: Finding Time, Staying Authentic & Dealing with Copycats

Running a small private dining and catering business is full of joy, I genuinely love it!!! Creating dishes that bring people together, designing beautiful menus and helping clients celebrate life’s special moments. But one part of the job that often surprises people? The pit that is social media.

The Love–Hate Relationship with Social Media

We know how important it is to share what we do online showing off those beautiful plates, the buzz of an event, or the care that goes into every menu. Social media can be such a powerful way to connect with clients and showcase our food.

But finding the time to post? That’s the real challenge. When you’re cooking from sunrise, plating up lunch for a private event, and prepping for a corporate buffet the next morning, the last thing on your mind is curating the perfect caption or chasing the algorithm. It’s hard work and honestly, sometimes it feels impossible to keep up.

The Frustration of Copycat Content

Another reality that many small food businesses quietly deal with is seeing their hard work copied online. You spend time styling a post, writing a caption, and sharing a piece of your creativity, only to find another business nearby has lifted your ideas, wording or worse, your photos, more often than not it’s someone you may even know!!!

It’s disheartening and frustrating, especially when you pour your heart into building something genuine. But at the same time, it’s a reminder that your creativity is worth something, that what you’re doing is inspiring others, even if they don’t always give credit where it’s due.

Staying Authentic

We’ve learned that staying authentic is the best response. Our food, our clients, and our story are unique to us. No one can replicate the energy we bring to our events, the care we put into our menus, or the personal touches that make our private dining experiences so special.

Social media trends come and go, but authenticity and great food will always stand out!!!

A Note to Our Supporters

To everyone who follows, shares, and supports our journey: thank you. You make the long days, late nights, and endless content juggling worth it. We might not post as often as we’d like, but when we do, it’s real, straight from our kitchen, our events, and our hearts.
